Local Energy Agencies in the European Union
Local Energy Agencies have the mission to:
- encourage the adoption of good practices in the energy field
- support the transition to more sustainable energy systems
- provide independent information and guidance
- offer a number of other local services based on specific local energy needs
The Agencies operate autonomously, building independent relations with the major local stakeholders such as energy producers, dealers and consumers. This is how Energy Agencies can give a significant contribution to energy policies and local energy planning.
What do energy agencies do?
Local and regional players, whether energy producers or consumers, public bodies, entrprises or equipment suppliers, can find a range of services at their Local Energy Agency including:
- Information, advice and training on energy management issues
- Support for the implementation of local/regional energy plans
- Energy audits of public and private buildings
- Dissemination on energy efficiency, renewable energy sources and transport issues
- Search for energy-management incentive funds at national and international level
Energy Agencies give wide-ranging advice on all aspects of energy, as well as technical assistance for energy projects and provide public information on these topics.
Agencies act as a contact point for relations with European networks and institutions as well as an intermediary to local, regional and national players.
In addition, this website contains details of other energy actors including municipalities and regional government, associations, ESCOs, consultants, research institutes and universities and many other types of organisations which give their contribution to the transition to more sustainable energy systems in our territory.
